Challenge
Quantity measurement and valuation in civil engineering projects involves large volumes of data, several parties and continuous change. The process was handled in spreadsheets and by email, which made it difficult to ensure traceability, history and clear documentation. The project organisation needed a more structured way to handle submissions, forecasts and supporting evidence transparently.
Approach
CASAI was introduced as the digital platform for the project's quantity measurement and valuation, and was used continuously for submissions, forecasts and reviews. Every submission was linked to its evidence, dialogue and decisions in the same system, giving the project organisation a clear history of the entire process.

Contractor — Rosenqvist Entreprenad AB
Internal control and traceability for the contractor
In a contract at Gullmarsplan in Stockholm, the railway contractor Rosenqvist Entreprenad used CASAI as an internal tool to gain control and traceability across the entire measurement process — from measurement submissions with supporting evidence to reviews, invoicing support and financial follow-up.
Challenge
Contractors often experience quantity measurement and valuation as uncontrolled and inefficient: multiple versions of spreadsheets, data that has to be re-validated at every delivery, unclear requirements for supporting evidence and weak traceability of communication. It costs time every month and makes it hard to show that reporting meets the client's requirements.
Approach
CASAI was used internally, without the client in the platform. Measurement submissions were created per code with specifications and attached evidence, internal evidence requirements per code had to be met before internal review, communication took place per code, and tasks were followed up in Team Boards. The finance module showed accumulated submissions and how the forecast contract sum developed, and Swedish reference literature (AMA, MER and MOTIV) was one click away through the AMA Online integration.

Client — Municipality of Nyköping
Structured quantity measurement in an ongoing project
The Municipality of Nyköping (Sweden) wanted to structure quantity measurement and valuation in an ongoing project where three submissions had already been made. CASAI's support team set up the project, entered the earlier submissions and trained the project organisation on both the client and contractor side — after which the project continued its measurement work in CASAI. The case was documented in 2022.
Challenge
The starting point was familiar to many clients: weak traceability of review history, communication and calculation evidence, multiple versions of spreadsheets that had to be re-validated at every delivery, risk of information loss when project members changed, and difficulty maintaining an accurate, up-to-date financial overview.
Approach
In CASAI, calculation evidence was linked to every measured quantity on its code, communication took place per code instead of in inboxes, and the Bill of Quantities became interactive and searchable. The contractor stated the expected final quantity per code, giving the client more reliable forecasts of the final contract sum. The municipality could define what reporting it expected per code — followed up by the system at every submission — and the built-in support for the 25 per cent rule under the Swedish standard contract AB 04 could flag affected codes.
